This initiative is inspired by the long tradition of Black women showing up for other Black women. At Harriet’s Wildseed, “I’ma tell you like a Black woman told me” is a nod to the lineage of our Big Mamas, mothers, aunties, and sisters. From churches and salons to kitchens and gardens, from hair braided with maps towards freedom to quilts stitched with directions out of captivity, this wisdom has always moved through intimate acts of care and protection. It shows up in glances, in pauses, in moments where nothing else needs to be said. This hoodie isn’t about proving anything.
